Wrapped Up

Luggage Design
Student - Spring 2019

Designed and built a full scale prototype of an insert for a suitcase as a collaboration project with Tumi. The insert could be taken out and transformed into a bag that the user can adapt to any travel situation. The bag is easily transportable and useful in a suitcase to protect the contents from dirt or water carried with shoes or bathing suits, as it would lay as an unfolded bag on top of the other items in the suitcase. The bag would be able to be taken out of the luggage, folded in a desired orientation, and connected in select locations to secure a fold.

To allow for the user to fold in any desirable fashion, a connection mechanism was designed for the insert. The design comprised of two connector pieces that could seperate and be placed on different sides of a fold. Then, they are pressed together to secure the fold.

Below is the pamphlet that was displayed during a reveiw with Tumi.
